Goa Become part of India |
Goa is a very beautiful state ,We can focus on some important points of it
- It's 1st and last colonial owner was Portuguese .
- Panaji or Panjim is the capital of the Indian state Goa. It’s located in western India, it’s preserved or famous for the 17th-century churches and the area’s tropical spice plantations. Goa is also known for its beaches and the fishing villages. Goa is the place, here you can see the pure nature’s of beauty, therefore it attracts many visitors.
- Portuguese rules many parts of Asia ,but main ruling area was Goa. Portuguese ruled Goa between 1505 to 1961 . During starting Goa was not part of our India even after independence it was not considered as the part of the India.In 1510 Goa was conquered by Albuquerque from Ismail Adil Sah ,Sultan of Bijapur .
- Since Goa was near and easily reachable to Portuguese ,they made it Capital for Asia and India region for business mostly for Portuguese Ruling states .But things was not same in 1920 ,Because at this time mahatma Gandhi was started his Independence movements . So these movements influence Goa people ,and Goa national Congress was formed in 1928 .Goa national congress was also a part of Indian national congress.
- In 1920 There was small small protest started , few demanded for press freedom .But Portuguese handle brutally to the protesters, protesters send jail , killed , send to Portugal or send to Angola Jain in South Africa. But in 1947 when India got Independence ,at that time Maximum focus of India was to settle separation issue of India and Pakistan. But 1950 again Goa freedom started by Nehru Government .
- But Portuguese was not ready to leave Goa . They were saying that Goa peoples are Portuguese , it is not colonial state , hence transfer was non negotiable. Portuguese also given an excuse that what happen to catholic. But India claimed Catholics are safe here, because here already many Catholic was staying after independence and they were very happy .
- Upto 1953 India tried many diplomatic way but they failed. Finally India stop diplomatic relation.In 1954 "United front of Goan Azad Gomantak" forced Portuguese to leave Dadra and Nagar Howell . In 1955 freedom revolution become was fast , around 30 revolutionary were killed in Goa. India Government was not happy with this act of portages , Nehru Government started Economic Blockade . India blocked cement , food , and many things. Now Portuguese was in big trouble .
- VK Krishna Manon was Defense minister at that time ,He given a statement that,we can use force in Goa.When India Army attacked on Goa ,Portuguese started destroying bridges , so that India Army can not enter into their territories, But Goa Liberation army stop Portuguese from destroying bridges.
- In 17-19 December 1961 India start attacking on Goa from with help all of its three forces they where army , navy and air forces . This operation was named as operation Vijay ,it took only 36 hours for Indian forces to win Goa .
- Many country like USA and UK condemn India for this act , But Portuguese were colonial power ,here no election ,no local people was in power. But One country USSR(Russia) supported India. From then India become a good friend of Russia.
Finally in 1963 ,the Parliament of India passed 12th amendment act ,which formally to integrating captured territory into India. And Goa become completly part of India.
