After great victory of Mahabharata war Pandavas return to Hastina Pur, At that time winning any war was a very big achievement  , and when king return from wars , usually there was celebrations . But here case was totally different ,they seen distress ,pain , grief of people . Yudhisthira heart was full of pain to see  pain all around , widows ,orphan . Some were in anger , some in hatred, toward Pandavas .Pandavas had seen only love from their people . Always people love them . Yudhisthira was thinking ,we have did very big mistake . Finally They went to Dhritarashtra ,when met him , Dhritarashtra spoke of words of peace, He said you win , you were true and whatever happen was Duryodhan  mistake . So you can rule Hastina Pur peacefully ,without any obstacles. But Dhritarashtra ask Pandavas ,I want to hug all of you . Dhritarashtra said, Bhima I want to hug you first . But Krishna understand what is running in Dhritarashtra mind , Actually most of Dhritarashtra son was brutally killed by  Bhima , So Dhritarashtra anger was mainly for Bhima. So Krishna stops Bhima to hug Dhritarashtra , instead he pushed one metal statue , Dhritarashtra crushed that metal statue . Basically there is a good lesson we should learn here, when you are weak , helpless , you talk about peace . But talking about peace when you are helpless and weak is meaningless or useless . But when you are strong and you are capable of doing things and you are talking about peace it is meaningful . So finally Yudhisthira coroneted as the king , and when he came to take  blessing to Dhritarashtra and Gandhari , Gandhari ask to Pandavas i want to see Yudhisthira once . Krishan immediately sense what it is , actually. Gandhari intension was to burn Yudhisthira . it was Boone to Gandhari , that when she remove her clothes from her eye for the the 1st time, it will burn the person to who-me she will see first. But Krishna pushes Durdasa in front of her , Durdasa s was son of Gandhari . And finally, Gandhari remove clothe from her eye , it was Durdasa ,And she burned Durdasa .
Gandhari was very angry on Krishna ,she said you could stop this fight , you took Pandavas favour in whole fight , she said all my sons died ,and today i killed my own son ,because of you .She said my sons died like glorious, but you will die like a common man ,today i killed my own son , tomorrow whole Dwaraka will fight each other and die. Krishna smile and said ,mother it is already written ,because no one can kill Yadava except Yadava .In the end Dhritarashtra ,Kunti ,Gandhari , Bidur and Sanjay all decided to go to jungle for Sadhana . once there was fire in forest, Dhritarashtra said, we should move from here ,Gandhari thought what we have  , all of our son has already died ,and Gandhari said let us burn our body in this fire .Finally they all died there.
