critically endangered bird ,the great Indian bustard |
hello friends, today we are going to talk about critically endangered bird the great Great Indian Bustard. First we should understand what is "critically endanger",Because human are growing every where ,humans are occupying spaces of other species. So when some species is about to end , Goverment declare it as endanger species . If any one found hunting any endanger species , he/she can face stringent punishment .It is protected under Wildlife Protection Act 1972 of India.A large bird with a horizontal body and long bare legs, giving it an ostrich like appearance, this bird is among the heaviest of the flying birds. In 2011 it's estimated number was around 250 , but in 2018 it's number reduce to 150 .This is a very beautiful birds .Few years back this bird was found in many places of India , like Rajsthan ,Andhra ,Gujrat .The species is critically endangered by hunting and loss of its habitat, which consists of large expanses of dry grassland and scrub. The great Indian bustard is omnivorous. Apparently, insects, consisting mainly of Orthoptera, but also beetles, are preferred in the diet. Alternatively, they will take grass seeds, berries, rodents and reptiles . In cultivated areas, they feed on crops such as exposed groundnut, millets and pods of legumes. In 2011 Birdlife International uplifted this from "endanger species" to :critically endanger" . Humans are capturing every places around them and it reducing space for other species .It's our moral responsibility to let other species also grow . We should always remember if we do not respect nature , tomorrow our coming generation will not be able to see anything which is available today .Great bustards typically live for around 10 years, but some have been known to live up to 15 years or more. The maximum known life span for the species was 28 years. Adult males seem to have a higher mortality rate than females due mainly to fierce intra species fighting with other males during the breeding season. Many males may perish in their first couple of years of maturity due to this cause. The Great bustard's number reduce because of many predators like raptors, corvids, hedgehogs, foxes, badgers ,these predators are eating Great bustard's eggs .
